Which Jackson Hole hotels are truly ski-in ski-out?

Two on this page, and both are in Teton Village: Four Seasons Jackson Hole, whose snowfront sits by the Eagle's Rest and Teewinot quads, and Hotel Terra, which the resort's own slopeside-lodging page groups with The Hostel and Moose Creek. Teton Mountain Lodge claims ski-in only. Caldera House and the Alpenhof are closer to the tram than either by measurement, but neither makes a ski claim on its own site, so both are filed as a walk.

Is the town of Jackson ski-in ski-out for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort?

No. The town is twelve miles from Teton Village, about 25 minutes by road, and no run from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort comes near it. What the town does have is Snow King, a separate 500-acre ski hill rising straight out of it. Hotels beside Snow King are genuinely slopeside — to Snow King. For the tram it is a $3 START bus each way or a drive.

What is the Snow King trap?

It is the most expensive mix-up in this valley. Grand View Lodge is described, correctly, as a 3-minute walk from Snow King Mountain Resort — 500 acres, 1,571 ft of vertical, 41 runs, about $100 a day, three blocks from Town Square. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is 2,500 acres with 4,139 ft of vertical and a $215 to $225 window ticket, twelve miles away at Teton Village. Book the first believing you bought the second and you have bought a different mountain.

Can a beginner ski back to the hotel at Jackson Hole?

Yes, but only into one corner of the base. The Eagle's Rest and Teewinot quads load at the Teton Village base and everything they serve is green — Eagle's Rest, Lower Teewinot, Lower Werner and Antelope Flats all finish in that base area. Pooh Bear is reached from the Sweetwater Gondola mid-station, so it is not a way home. The catch is scale: green is about 10% of a 4,139-ft mountain, there is no green descent from the tram, and a beginner is paying the region's highest base rates to lap one pod. Snow King in town, at about $100 a day, is the honest alternative.

Is Jackson Hole on the Ikon Pass?

On the full Ikon Pass only, and this catches people every season. In the resort's own wording, access is not included with the Ikon Base Pass or the Ikon Session Pass. The full pass gives 7 days, and lift reservations are mandatory for every Ikon holder — you reserve the specific dates you intend to ski, reservations open in early August for the coming winter, and days can sell out. No blackout dates are published because the reservation system does that job instead.

Do you have to pay extra for the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram?

Not in winter. The tram is included in a winter lift ticket at no upcharge, for ticket buyers and pass holders alike — the opposite of Big Sky, where the Lone Peak Tram is charged per ride to everyone on a pass. The separate adult ticket of about $54 that you will see advertised is the summer foot-passenger sightseeing ride.

How much do ski-in ski-out hotels in Jackson Hole cost?

Only two Teton Village rates came back in our 20-23 January price check: $1,439 at the Four Seasons and $3,394 at Caldera House, the latter for a multi-bedroom suite rather than a room. Hotel Terra, Teton Mountain Lodge and the Alpenhof returned no rate at all, so we do not publish one. Down the valley the same three nights ran from $161 at Fireside Resort and $179 at Elk Country Inn to $398 at The Wort and $585 at Grand View Lodge.

Should you stay in Teton Village or the town of Jackson?

Teton Village if the skiing is the point and you ski well — first tram, mid-day resets, and hotel guests park free. The town if the trip is about more than the mountain: The Wort at $398 and Huff House at $208 put restaurants and Town Square outside the door, parking is free downtown, and the START bus is $3 each way. The village has the lifts; the town has the evenings and, on this page, most of the affordable beds.

When does Jackson Hole open for 2026/27?

Opening day is 27 November 2026. The closing date had not been announced at time of research — historically the season runs to early April, and the START winter bus schedule brackets roughly late November to mid April. Ikon reservations for the coming winter open in early August, which is earlier than most people plan a trip.

The Teton Village addresses first, then the town of Jackson, then Wilson and the highway. The category follows what the property or the resort actually states, not the GPS distance — which is why Caldera House and the Alpenhof, the two closest buildings to the tram by measurement, sit in the walk group. Guest scores and review counts are Google's; the lift verdict is ours.

The only harvested hotel whose snowfront is the beginner pod: Eagle's Rest and Teewinot both load at the village base, and Four Seasons' own press room pitches the property on exactly that access rather than on the tram.
Correct one number before you book. Google's blurb says '0.3 miles from the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram and 4.2 miles from skiing at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort' inside one sentence — the 4.2-mile half is a geocoding artefact. The hotel stands inside the resort base area.

The hotel itself never says ski-in/ski-out. Its homepage says 'in the heart of Teton Village' and 'at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort', and the only door-level claim it makes is a summer one about the bike park. 'Adjacent to the ski lifts' is Google's syndicated line, not Terra's.
We still file it as true because the resort's own slopeside-lodging page groups it with The Hostel and Moose Creek — the grouping is the evidence, since the body copy uses none of the words slopeside, ski-in or ski-out.
No rate came back in our January price check. Google shows 4.4 from 675 reviews: property and location score well, while bathrooms run negative (20 positive against 22) and sleep is close behind.

Read the claim literally and it is honest: ski-in only. In-room boot dryers are the strongest gear-handling evidence the property publishes, and there is no ski valet named anywhere on its site.
'Teton Private Residences' shares this exact address and GPS, has zero reviews and is tagged as a vacation-home rental — it is this lodge's residence arm listed as a second Google entity, so it gets no card of its own.
No rate came back in our January price check. At 4.6 from 887 reviews it has the strongest service score in the village (225 positive of 245), with a 22-person rooftop hot tub, indoor and outdoor pools, and sleep the one topic that runs negative.

42 rooms in an Austrian-style lodge with its own ski shop, two restaurants, a sauna, an outdoor pool and a hot tub — the one village address that reads as a ski lodge rather than a resort hotel.
Continental breakfast and on-site parking are complimentary, and in a village charging $35 to $45 a day at the public lots that parking line is worth more than it looks.
No rate came back in our January price check. At 3.9 from 357 reviews it is the lowest-scoring hotel in Teton Village: breakfast and atmosphere score well, rooms run clearly negative (8 positive against 15) and so do bathrooms.

This is the trap the whole page exists for. A reader who books 'the slopeside Jackson Hole lodge' and lands here has bought a different mountain — 500 acres against 2,500, and 1,571 vertical feet against 4,139.
On its own terms it is a decent town base: suites and condos with gas fireplaces, kitchenettes, private terraces, a free airport shuttle, and access to the adjacent hotel's spa, pool and hot tub.

We have not stayed at these properties. Four harvested listings get no card. 'Teton Private Residences' shares an address, a GPS point and a building with Teton Mountain Lodge and is its rental arm, not a second hotel. R Lazy S Ranch on the Moose-Wilson Road, Lost Creek Ranch at Moose and Dornan's at the Snake River crossing are summer operations that make no ski claim of any kind, and the Moose-Wilson Road itself closes to vehicles in winter between the Granite Canyon and Death Canyon entrances. Teton Teepee Lodge, which the harvest also returned, is 6.4 miles from Grand Targhee on the far side of the range and does not belong on this page at all.
