Killington has no ski village. The address on the booking page decides everything here: a Killington Road number is a shuttle stay, and only two beds on East Mountain Road touch snow.

The short version

  • Two addresses have snow access and both are on East Mountain Road: the Grand's pedestrian ski bridge at the Snowshed base, and a townhome row standing on the Great Eastern trail above the Skyeship gondola. Every 'Killington Rd' house number in this harvest is a shuttle stay.
  • The flagship's ski access has an end date, printed by its own owner. killington.com sells the Grand's bridge as putting you on the slopes 'from December through March (snow conditions permitting)' — on a mountain that opened 12 November and closed 25 May in 2025/26. The famous ski-in/ski-out does not exist for roughly a third of the season you can buy a lift ticket for.
  • Great Eastern does not come home. The long green everyone books Killington for descends the far side of Skye Peak, over 2,500 vertical feet, to the Skyeship base on Route 4 at 1,165 ft — the resort's lowest-elevation trail. It finishes at a highway gondola station, not at Snowshed, and the only lodging it passes is Spruce Glen.
  • Parking is free — 'no ticket, no fee, no catch' at all five base lots, with the Vale lot on Route 4 as overflow. Paid parking is an optional upgrade: K-1 Preferred $47 Saturday and $40 Sunday and midweek holidays, Snowshed Valet $52 and $45, both 2025/26 rates. Nobody has to buy a space here, which weakens the whole case for paying up to sleep closer.
  • Neither snow-access property published a nightly rate for our January check. The cheapest bed on the page is $64 at Apres Inn on the Access Road — against $326 for the same nights on Expedia and Hotels.com, the widest spread we found anywhere in this harvest.

Lift access checked in both directions against killington.com, each property's own site and local property managers, August 2026. killingtongroup.com, hilton.com and steepseeker.com all returned HTTP 403, so no run colour on this page was read off a rendered trail map and every trail rating here is unverified. Rates are a snapshot for three nights, 20 to 23 January 2027, two adults.

This guide covers the town of Killington and the resort's five bases — K-1 and Snowshed and Ramshead off the Access Road, Bear Mountain off East Mountain Road, and the Skyeship on US Route 4. Pico Mountain, five miles west on Route 4, is a separate ski area with its own base and lifts: same owner, same pass, no lift connection to Killington's terrain, so a Pico distance is never a Killington distance. Rutland, Bridgewater, Pittsfield, Woodstock and Chittenden are different towns, between six and seventeen miles out, and lodging there is not resort lodging however the hotel name is hyphenated.   • The only hotel in this harvest standing at a ski base. Killington calls it 'the resort's only full-service mountainside hotel' and 'the closest hotel to the slopes' — a claim we publish as the resort's wording, because no source we read states an official policy on any other hotel.
  • Read the access date range before the amenity list. Killington skis from early November into late May — 12 November to 25 May in 2025/26, 3 November to 1 June in 2023/24 — and the bridge is sold for December through March. Book the shoulders and you have a base-area hotel using the same free shuttle as the Access Road.
  • The best-reviewed property on this page at 4.5 from 1,453 Google reviews, with a spa, Preston's, a year-round heated outdoor pool and valet parking. No nightly rate came back for it in our January price check, so there is no number to compare here.

  • Not a hotel. These are townhomes let as vacation rentals, and the manager's own boast is that Spruce Glen is 'the only ski in ski out property in Killington that is [neither] a condo association [nor] a private home'. Sixteen Google reviews and no published rate, so it books like a house, not a room.
  • Its base is the Skyeship, at 1,165 ft — the lowest base at the resort and the bottom of Killington's lowest-elevation trail. That makes this the most weather-exposed ski access on the mountain: snowmaking on the lower section of Great Eastern is published as starting in early December, and the gondola runs as two independent stages so the upper half can keep turning when the bottom cannot.
  • The trade is isolation. From here the beginner lodges, the ski school, the après strip and every restaurant on the Access Road are a gondola ride or a drive, and the resort shuttle stops at 5 p.m.

  • The Pico trap in one sentence. Google's blurb orients the hotel with '3 miles from Gifford Woods State Park and 5 miles from the Pico Mountain Ski Area'. Pico is a separate ski area about five miles west on Route 4 — same owner, same pass, its own base, no lift connection to Killington's terrain. A Pico distance tells you nothing about your morning here.
  • The best-known branded hotel on the strip and the weakest guest score in the set: 3.7 from 1,219 reviews, with bathroom running 193 negative against 73 positive, plus cleanliness, rooms and parking negative. Location and nature are the positives.

We have not stayed at these properties. Every claim was checked in August 2026 against killington.com, the property's own website and local property managers, and where those contradicted a listing, the listing lost. Twelve entries from the same harvest are not on this page at all: four in Rutland, two each in Bridgewater and Pittsfield, one each in Woodstock, Chittenden and Stockbridge, plus a two-unit cabin rental. Killington's genuinely slopeside stock is condominium inventory that this harvest missed entirely — it is covered below rather than carded.

The road

Four miles, no village

The Killington Access Road climbs about four miles from US-4 to the Snowshed and Ramshead bases, and it is a linear strip of inns, condos, bars and restaurants rather than a base village. Every hotel address on it is a shuttle stay. The five bases are K-1, Snowshed, Ramshead, Bear Mountain and the Skyeship — and the last two are reached from East Mountain Road and Route 4, not from the Access Road at all.

killington.com is blunt: 'No ticket, no fee, no catch. Every lot has drop-off and pick-up so you can unload passengers and gear before you park.' When the base lots fill, the Vale lot on Route 4 is the overflow and you ski down to Ramshead or ride the shuttle to K-1. Paid parking is a premium option only — K-1 Preferred at $47 Saturday and $40 Sunday and midweek holidays, Snowshed Valet at $52 and $45 with a vehicle warm-up on return. Those are 2025/26 rates; re-check them for 2026/27.

Killington and Pico are Ikon partner destinations and count as one allotment between them. The full Ikon Pass gives 7 days with no blackouts; Ikon Base gives 5 days with blackouts reported for 2026/27 on 27–31 December 2026, 16–17 January 2027 and 13–14 February 2027 — Christmas week, MLK weekend and Presidents' weekend, which is precisely when a Vermont ski week gets booked. Those dates come from a secondary summary, so confirm on ikonpass.com; the structure is well supported.

The season

Longer than the ski-in/ski-out season

Killington publishes no fixed opening date — 'as soon as temperatures allow, the snowmaking team gets to work' — and recent seasons ran 12 November to 25 May, 14 November to 11 May, and 3 November to 1 June. The access claims are shorter than all of them: the Grand's bridge is December through March, the Sunrise Village Triple closes around 7 April, and Great Eastern is the lowest trail on the hill. Mid-January to mid-March is the only window in which every claim on this page is simultaneously true.

Condos: where Killington's real ski-in ski-out actually is

A page built on the hotel harvest alone would tell you Killington has one ski-in/ski-out property. The truth is that it has one ski-in/ski-out hotel and a handful of ski-home condominium complexes, all of them on the Bear Mountain side or behind Snowshed, and none of them booking through a front desk that Google's hotel index can see.

Read the access wording these complexes publish about themselves, because it is more honest than anything on a listing page. killington.com describes Highridge's ski-home access as 'available via a trail... best suited for skiers who can skate on skis; not recommended for snowboarders' — that is the plain description of a Vermont ski-home trail, a flat traverse rather than a run, and it is the standard to hold every claim in this table to. Trail Creek's own hedge runs the same way: access is to and from the Snowshed area 'only available when that facility is operational and conditions permit'. Nobody who rents these places pretends the trail is a piste.

The Sunrise Village Triple hours are quoted from a community spring-hours page for one season, not a standing schedule; the direction, that the lift closes weeks before the resort does, is the durable finding.

Why the address on your booking decides everything at Killington

Killington is the largest ski area in the East and it has no base village. What it has instead is the Killington Access Road, signed Killington Road, which climbs roughly four miles from US Route 4 up to the Snowshed and Ramshead bases. Along it sit the inns, the condo complexes, the rental shops and the bars that people mean when they say Killington. It is a strip, not a village, and nothing on it is slopeside.

The house number is the tell, because the numbering starts down at Route 4 and climbs toward the mountain. Apres Inn at 1784 sits about a mile and a half below the base. Killington Mountain Lodge at 2617 is mid-strip. Summit Lodge on a spur off the top of it still publishes '4 miles from skiing at Killington Peak' in its own description. Every one of them is a shuttle stay, and the free Access Road shuttle is the infrastructure the whole road runs on.

The bases are five, and they are not all on that road. K-1 sits at the top of it with the gondola. Snowshed is the beginner base and the ski school, and the only base in Killington with a hotel on it. Ramshead is the other family base, linked to Snowshed by a tunnel under the road. Bear Mountain is reached from East Mountain Road and the Skyeship from Route 4 — so two of the five bases are nowhere near the strip that carries the lodging.

That single distinction sorts the entire harvest. Two properties here carry an East Mountain Road address and have snow access: the Killington Grand at 228, over the ski bridge from Snowshed, and Spruce Glen at 3389, standing on the Great Eastern trail above the Skyeship. A third, Fall Line at 786, has a ski-home trail the resort opens mid-winter and no ski-out at all. Everything else in this set is a Killington Road number, an Old Mill Road inn, a Route 4 hotel or a different town.

The ski bridge with an end date, and the green run that ends at a highway

Start with the resort's own sentence, because it is the strongest correction on this page. killington.com says the Grand's 'pedestrian ski-bridge puts you on the slopes from December through March (snow conditions permitting)'. Killington skis from early November to late May and is proud of it — 12 November to 25 May in 2025/26, and 3 November to 1 June in 2023/24. So the resort is telling you, in its own marketing copy, that the ski-in/ski-out you are booking is not in service for roughly the first month and the last two months of a season on which it will happily sell you a lift ticket. In summer the same bridge walks you to the mountain coaster.

There is a second correction sitting inside the same booking. Great Eastern is the run people choose Killington for — roughly 3.5 miles and over 2,500 vertical feet of green, one of the longest runs in the East. It descends the far side of Skye Peak and finishes at the Skyeship base on Route 4, at 1,165 ft, which is Killington's lowest-elevation trail and several miles by road from the Access Road hotels. A beginner staying at the Grand or anywhere on Killington Road who rides up and skis Great Eastern top to bottom ends the day at a gondola station on a highway, riding the Skyeship back up or waiting for a shuttle. The only lodging that run passes is Spruce Glen, and Spruce Glen is a townhome rental with no restaurants, no ski school and no rate published anywhere.

Beginners do ski home at Killington — just not to the lodging. Snowshed Slope, the wide green served by the Snowshed Express, finishes at the Snowshed Lodge. Great Northern runs from high on the mountain down to the Ramshead base and is the trail regulars name first for a first week. Higher up, Highlander off the top of the Snowshed pod feeds into Yodeler or Idler back to Snowshed. Every colour in that paragraph comes from ski media and resort prose: steepseeker.com's Killington trail map returned a 403 during research, so nothing here was read off a rendered map and none of it should be treated as a verified rating.

Which leaves the honest conclusion about timing. In November and in May, Killington skis from the top of the mountain and you drive or ride to it whatever you paid for your bed — which makes the shoulders a strong trip and a bad time to buy slopeside. Mid-January to mid-March is the window in which the bridge, the Sunrise triple and Great Eastern are all working at once.

Parking, passes, shuttles and what the money actually buys

Parking at Killington is free, and that single fact undercuts most of the reason to pay up for a slopeside bed. The resort's own page reads 'No ticket, no fee, no catch' and all five base lodge lots are complimentary, with drop-off and pick-up at each so you can unload gear before you park. When they fill, the Vale lot on Route 4 is the overflow, and from there you either ski down to Ramshead or take the shuttle to K-1. What costs money is optional: K-1 Preferred Parking in Bay 2 beside the gondola at $47 on Saturdays and $40 on Sundays and midweek holidays, and Snowshed Valet at $52 and $45, including a vehicle warm-up on your return. Those are the published 2025/26 rates and killington.com's own page carries a contradictory note about Preferred Parking for 2026/27, so treat them as last season's and re-check.

The pass question is simpler and sharper. Killington and Pico are Ikon partner destinations sharing one allotment: 7 days on the full Ikon Pass with no blackouts, 5 days on Ikon Base with blackouts reported for 2026/27 on 27–31 December 2026, 16–17 January 2027 and 13–14 February 2027. Those three windows are Christmas, MLK weekend and Presidents' weekend — the exact weeks a family ski trip gets booked. If your dates land inside them, Ikon Base does not work here and the full pass does. For single days, Killington prices dynamically: online advance adult tickets are commonly listed in a $129–$205 band, same-day window rates have been reported up to about $204 midweek and $266 at weekends, and the K-Ticket voucher — one any-day ticket for the season — was $159 as of 11 November 2025 for 2025/26.

The shuttles are what make the Access Road habitable, and they have a hard edge. The resort shuttle loops between open base lodges and parking areas from 30 minutes before the lifts open until 5:00 p.m. daily; the condo shuttle links selected complexes to Snowshed on weekends and peak days only; the Access Road shuttle runs Killington Road from West Hill Road up. After 5 p.m., nothing. Dinner on the strip is a taxi, a designated driver or a bar's own bus, and the Wobbly Barn runs one on Fridays and Saturdays. Marble Valley Regional Transit's Rutland–Killington commuter, hourly from about 7:15 a.m. to 7:05 p.m. seven days, is the reason a bed in Rutland works at all — though a Rutland bed is 20 to 30 minutes each way and is not resort lodging.

Two addresses in this set, and both are on East Mountain Road. Killington Grand Resort Hotel at 228 reaches the Snowshed base over a pedestrian ski bridge, which killington.com sells for December through March only. Spruce Glen Townhomes at 3389 stands on the Great Eastern trail above the Skyeship base, and is a townhome rental rather than a hotel. Every Killington Road address in the harvest is a shuttle stay, and the resort's genuinely slopeside condominium complexes — Sunrise Mountain Village, Trail Creek, Pinnacle — book through rental managers and never appeared in it.
Is the Killington Grand really ski-in ski-out?
From December through March, by the resort's own wording, and not outside it. killington.com states that the 'pedestrian ski-bridge puts you on the slopes from December through March (snow conditions permitting)' on a mountain that skis early November to late May. Guests describe roughly 100 yards from the back exit over the bridge to the Snowshed quad, which is a walk in boots rather than a threshold — and the resort publishes no distance of its own, so we print both versions rather than averaging them. What does ski-in ski-out lodging at Killington cost?
Neither snow-access property published a nightly rate for our 20 to 23 January check, so there is no slopeside price to quote. On the Access Road, Apres Inn came back at $64 direct against $326 on Expedia and Hotels.com, Summit Lodge at $233, Cedarbrook at $235 and Killington Mountain Lodge at $312. Fall Line's $980 is a whole-unit condo rate, not a room rate. The Mountain Inn and Killington Center returned no rate at all.
When should you book slopeside at Killington?
Mid-January to mid-March, which is the only window in which every access claim on this page is simultaneously true. The Grand's bridge is a December-to-March product, the Sunrise Village Triple at Bear Mountain closes around 7 April while the resort skis into late May, and Great Eastern is the lowest trail on the hill with snowmaking on its lower section published as starting in early December. In November and in May you are skiing the top of the mountain and getting to it by road or lift regardless of where you sleep — good skiing, bad value for a slopeside premium.
Is Mountain Green Resort ski-in ski-out?
It is sold that way and it is not. killington.com's own phrasing gives it away in a single line — 'just steps to Killington Mountain' followed immediately by 'free winter shuttle or 5-minute walk' — and rental managers put it at a 7-minute walk to the Snowshed lodge and about 10 to Ramshead, with a free shuttle looping every 15 to 30 minutes. Those minute figures come from marketing rather than a measured source, but the direction is solid: it is a walk property with good amenities. It has no card here because it did not appear in the hotel harvest.
