Okemo has three places you can sleep on the snow, not the two most guides describe, and the town everybody books is not one of them. One of those three is the only hotel-shaped ski-in ski-out product on the mountain — and it sits behind a single lift that the leading independent source calls the only way out.
There is one hotel-shaped ski-on address at Okemo and no second option: the Jackson Gore Inn and its two sibling buildings, where you boot up in the lobby, cross a heated walkway and skate to the lift.
Jackson Gore has exactly one exit. Everything at that base funnels onto the Coleman Brook Express — 390 feet of rise, and in the blunt phrase of the leading independent Okemo source, 'the only way out of Jackson Gore'. A wind hold or a mechanical strands the base, and weekend waits there are reported at over half an hour.
Travelling with a beginner? Book Clock Tower instead. The ski school and nearly every green run on the mountain are at the original base, and they all finish at its door — which is why Mountain Lodge at Okemo is the honest family pick, for a ground-floor unit only. Upper floors walk down first.
Nobody can tell you what colour the Jackson Gore home run is. The best independent trail database marks Expresso, Fast Track, Rolling Thunder, Southern Crossing and Spur Line green in its index, calls all five intermediate on its own Jackson Gore page, names Inn Bound as a beginner run instead — then marks Inn Bound blue. We publish the contradiction and no rating.
The 98% snowmaking figure is pipe in the ground, not snow on the trail. The number is real and repeats across Vail's own Okemo fact sheets, but an independent review reports snowmaking operations were cut back after the acquisition and that some water rights were permanently lost, so the old billing as Vermont's best snowmaking no longer holds.
Parking is free at every Okemo lot — four at Clock Tower, one large one at Jackson Gore — which is a genuine advantage over the same company's Colorado mountains at $20 to $30 a day. The two free shuttles are the catch: weekends and holidays only, not midweek.
In our 20–23 January price check, The Governor's Inn in Ludlow was the cheapest bed at $200 and The Weston, nine miles away in the wrong town, the dearest at $483. Slopeside starts at $296.
Lift access checked in both directions in August 2026 against each property's own pages, ski media and an independent Okemo trail database. Okemo.com was unreachable throughout — every page and both winter trail-map PDFs returned the Vail reservation-system error — so no official trail map was read and every run colour and distance here is third-party. Rates are a snapshot for three nights, 20 to 23 January 2027, two adults.

Three buildings — the Inn, Adams House and Bixby House — hold about 200 units at the Jackson Gore base, described in the sources as 'many facing the slopes and all of them ski-in, ski-out'. Google's own blurb agrees on the geography: 'Set at the base of ski slopes, this warm inn spans 3 buildings within Okemo Mountain Resort.' What you book is a privately-owned unit in a hotel wrapper — the Inn and Adams House are quarter-share, Bixby is full ownership — but the front desk, restaurant, gym, sauna and indoor and outdoor pools are all real.
The single most decision-changing fact on this page: Jackson Gore has exactly one exit. Everything at this base funnels onto the Coleman Brook Express, a high-speed quad of only 390 feet of rise, described by the leading independent Okemo source as 'the only way out of Jackson Gore'. The South Ridge Quad A and Quad B and the F-10 magic carpet start on this snow, Okemo's ski school launches from it, and every green run on the Clock Tower pod finishes at the base lodge door. One-bedroom units with full kitchen, queen or king plus a queen sleeper sofa, private decks facing the base lodge, preferred parking at the building.
Two data tells belong on the record. Thirteen Google reviews for a base-area address is nothing, and the harvested phone number is +1 970 — a Colorado area code, which is Vail Resorts' central lodging desk rather than a Vermont front desk. This is a remotely managed condo rental, not a staffed hotel. The advertised complimentary access to the Spring House pool and fitness centre is also not on site: the Spring House is at Jackson Gore, a shuttle ride away, and that shuttle runs weekends and holidays only.

The name trap on this page: 'Resort' in the title, four stars, and no lift, no run and no snow. It is a 1904 mansion in Proctorsville, in the town of Cavendish, not in Ludlow at all — and it makes no ski claim in the harvested data, which is more honest than half the listings around Okemo.
What it is instead: a country-house hotel with a spa, an outdoor pool, a hot tub, a fitness centre and a restaurant, and it takes pets. The review topics say the same thing — wellness, spa, couples and hot tub carry the volume, family runs 1 positive against 3 negative. This is an adults' weekend, not a ski-week base for four.

1.4 miles is the shortest gap in this harvest between a bed and the mountain, and it is still a shuttle property — which is the clearest way to say what Ludlow is. The town is at the bottom of the access road; the Clock Tower base is at the top. Both free services that close that gap, the Okemo Resort Shuttle and the MOOver Okemo Village bus, run weekends and holidays only.
An 1890 governor's house turned Victorian B&B: gourmet breakfast in the dining room, afternoon tea, a den with a bar, fireplaces in the upgraded rooms, whirlpool tubs in some. One rule rules it out for most of the audience Okemo sells to — it does not accept children 12 and under.

The only property on this page that takes both dogs and cats, which for some readers ends the comparison. Add a hot tub, kitchens in some rooms, a guest laundry, activities for kids and self-parking, and it is a family-and-pets base rather than a ski one.

It is on this page because Google's hotel data returns it for an Okemo search, and it should not be booked as an Okemo ski property. Nine miles south down Route 100 is a twenty-minute drive each way in good conditions and longer in a Vermont storm, on the mornings you least want it.
As a destination inn it is genuinely good: 5.0 from 28 Google reviews with service 17 positive to zero, property 12 to zero and dining 9 to zero, plus a spa, a fitness centre and Wi-Fi, beside the Vermont Country Store on the Weston green.
$483 in our January price check, matched on Booking.com and Priceline — the most expensive bed on this page, and the furthest from the lifts. If the trip is about the skiing, that is the wrong end of both scales.
We have not stayed at these properties. Every claim above was checked in August 2026 against the property's own pages and third-party ski coverage, and where those contradicted the listing, the listing lost. Six harvest entries were dropped before writing: the Google listing for the ski area itself, the Jackson Gore Village rental-programme record that duplicates the Inn, the Solitude Village building-cluster POI, a single VRBO unit, a whole-home rental in Plymouth and an inn twenty-six miles away in Woodstock that markets itself to Killington skiers. Okemo's real slopeside stock is condominium, and it is covered in the table below rather than as cards.

The figure repeats consistently across Vail Resorts' own Okemo fact sheets, across 667 skiable acres and 121 to 127 trails and glades, against roughly 200 inches of average natural snow. But an independent resort review reports that after the acquisition Okemo 'cut back on snowmaking operations' and 'permanently lost some of the water rights', and rates the plant as decent rather than what it was — so the old billing as Vermont's best snowmaking no longer holds. Coverage capacity and coverage delivered are two different claims, and the marketing only ever quotes the first.

Name that for what it is: the same company charges $20 to $30 a day at its Colorado mountains, so a driving week at Okemo costs nothing extra. The small Clock Tower lot across from The Loft typically fills by about 8:30 a.m. on weekends and holidays.

Okemo is a Vail Resorts mountain, and the pass economics are unusually good: the Epic Local, reported at $746 for 2026/27, gives unlimited Okemo days plus unlimited Mount Snow, Hunter, Mount Sunapee, Crotched, Wildcat and Attitash. Stowe is the exception — Epic Local is holiday-restricted there, not unlimited, and our Stowe guide lists the seven blacked-out dates. Against day tickets reported across a band of roughly $149 to $239, it pays for itself in about four peak days. Prices are press- and aggregator-reported, not read off epicpass.com.
Condos: Okemo's other ski-in ski-out addresses
If this page ended at the hotel cards you would conclude Okemo has almost no slopeside lodging, and that is wrong. Google's hotel index returned exactly two bookable slopeside addresses on this mountain. Okemo's real ski-on stock is overwhelmingly condominium, sold through the resort's own rental programme and through Vacasa and local managers, which hotel data does not return — so these have no rate and no booking card, and several of them beat what does.
Solitude is the one to read twice, because the resort itself hedges it. Okemo's wording for those condos is 'relative ski in/ski out access' — a qualifier it does not attach to Jackson Gore. Guests describe both walking 'out the door and onto the Sidewinder trail' and 'ten feet to the Promenade trail to the Solitude Lift', and Promenade is filed blue by the independent index. Those are different buildings with different answers, so a first-timer needs to confirm which trail their specific unit sits on before booking.

Okemo has three slopeside bases, and Ludlow is not one of them
Almost every guide to Okemo describes two bases. There are three, and knowing which is which is the whole booking decision. CLOCK TOWER is the original base, at the top of the Okemo Mountain Road access road above Ludlow: the two South Ridge quads and the F-10 carpet start here, the ski school launches from this snow, and nearly every green trail on the mountain — Open Slope, Ledgewood, Lift Line, Homeward Bound, Hot Dog Hill, Snow Trak, Ski School Slope, Kettle Brook — finishes at the base lodge door. JACKSON GORE is the purpose-built village on the north side, two-plus miles round by road, anchored by the Jackson Gore Inn plus Adams House and Bixby House, about 200 units between them. SOLITUDE VILLAGE is mid-mountain at the base of Solitude Peak, physically between the other two, and it is condos and townhouses only — no front desk in the ordinary sense.
The town of LUDLOW sits at the foot of the access road, a mile and more below Clock Tower with a real climb in between. Nothing in Ludlow is slopeside at any price, and no listing that says otherwise is describing the town. The Governor's Inn is the shortest gap in this harvest at 1.4 miles — Google's own line for the address — and it is still a shuttle property. That is the useful way to calibrate every other Ludlow listing you will read.
So the choice is concrete. If you want a hotel room with a front desk, room service and genuine door-to-snow, it is the Jackson Gore Inn and there is no second option — the Inn, Adams and Bixby complex is the only hotel-shaped slopeside product on this mountain. If you are travelling with a first-timer or a ski-school child, book Clock Tower instead: Mountain Lodge at Okemo puts the South Ridge quads and the F-10 carpet a reported 50 yards away, and the green runs all come home to that base. Jackson Gore's beginner story is thinner, and its exit is a single lift.
Mountain Lodge carries a condition worth stating plainly, because its own marketing states it and most listings do not repeat it: the phrase is 'the ski-in/ski-out, GROUND-FLOOR condos'. Ground-floor units ski out; upper units walk down first. Two other tells belong on the record — thirteen Google reviews for a base-area address, and a Colorado 970 phone number, because this is a remotely managed condo rental rather than a staffed hotel. Its complimentary access to the Spring House pool is real, but the Spring House is at Jackson Gore, a shuttle ride away, and that shuttle does not run midweek.

Jackson Gore has exactly one way out
The ski-in ski-out claim at the Jackson Gore Inn is real, and the wording that proves it is worth quoting because of what it concedes as well as what it promises: guests 'boot up in the lobby and walk out the opposite side of the hotel, across the heated walkway and onto the snow where it's just a short skate to the Coleman Brook Express'. A visiting writer's version is 'I put my skis on just a few steps from the back door and skied to the lift.' A heated walkway and a short skate is a few paces of engineered path, not a snowbank at the threshold — and it is still the best door-to-snow answer on this mountain by a distance. None of that wording comes from okemo.com, which was unreachable throughout this research; no yardage from any door to any lift is published anywhere we found, so we do not invent one.
Now the structural problem. Everything at the Jackson Gore base funnels onto the Coleman Brook Express, a high-speed quad with only 390 feet of rise, to reach the Quantum Six and the rest of the mountain. The leading independent Okemo source puts it in four words: 'the only way out of Jackson Gore.' There is no second exit. A wind hold, a mechanical, a late early-season opening, or simply a queue — and Jackson Gore lift waits over half an hour on weekends are reported — leaves a guest at that base with nothing to do but wait or drive round. Coming back the other way is a navigation problem too, not a glide: from the Main Face you ride up and take Sunset Strip from the top of Jackson Gore Peak, and going out you take Sunset Strip into Mountain Road and on to the Northstar Express.
Which brings us to the beginner question, where the honest answer is that nobody has one. The Jackson Gore home run has no reliable rating. The most detailed independent Okemo trail database contradicts itself inside its own site: the trail index files Expresso, Fast Track, Rolling Thunder, Southern Crossing and Spur Line as Jackson Gore greens, while its own Jackson Gore area page lists those same five as intermediate and names Inn Bound, Lower Limelight and Tree Tap as the beginner runs instead — and then the index marks Inn Bound blue. Okemo's own blog, via a search snippet since the page would not load, calls Coleman Brook 'a long, scenic green run'; the same independent index files Coleman Brook under Solitude with no difficulty symbol at all. Sunset Strip is called a green run by one guide and tagged as a glade by the index. We publish that contradiction and no colour for the Jackson Gore home run, because publishing a green here that turns out to be blue is exactly the error a beginner pays for.
The practical version: put an adult beginner or a ski-school child at Clock Tower, where the greens are documented, consistent and all end at the base lodge. Book Jackson Gore for the hotel, the pools, the restaurants and the front desk — and go in knowing that your access to the rest of the mountain rests on one short chair.
Snowmaking, free parking and the shuttle catch at Okemo
The number Okemo leads with is 98% snowmaking coverage, and it is genuinely the most-quoted statistic about this mountain: 98% across 667 skiable acres and 121 to 127 trails and glades, against about 200 inches of average annual natural snowfall. The figure is real and it repeats consistently across Vail Resorts' own Okemo fact sheets. Read it correctly, though, because coverage capacity and coverage delivered are two different claims and the marketing only ever quotes the first. Ninety-eight per cent is pipe in the ground. An independent resort review reports that after the Vail Resorts acquisition Okemo 'cut back on snowmaking operations' and 'permanently lost some of the water rights', and that while conditions have partly recovered the plant is now decent rather than what it once was — the old billing as the best snowmaking in Vermont no longer holds. That counter-claim has one source and it is attributed here; so is the 98%, and neither has a second corroborating source we could reach.
Why it matters at this particular resort is elevation. The summit is 3,344 ft with about 2,200 ft of vertical, which puts the base near 1,100 to 1,150 ft — low, warm and rain-exposed by Western standards. The risk here lives at the bottom of the run, not the top: the last few hundred vertical feet into Clock Tower and Jackson Gore are the first snow to go in a December thaw or an April warm spell, and the ski-back to your door is the first thing to close. In the shoulder weeks expect a narrow machine-made ribbon top-to-bottom rather than an open mountain. It still works — the 2025/26 season ran 22 November to 19 April, which is a long Vermont season and the direct payoff of the plant — but 2026/27 dates had not been announced when this page was researched.
On money, two things are unusually good and one is worth checking before you rely on it. Parking is free at every Okemo lot: four at Clock Tower and one large one at Jackson Gore, with no shuttle needed at either. Name that for what it is — the same company charges $20 to $30 a day to park at its Colorado mountains, so a driving week here costs nothing extra, and it is the strongest practical argument for staying off the snow at Okemo rather than on it. The catch is the shuttles. Both free services, the Okemo Resort Shuttle and the MOOver Okemo Village bus, run weekends and holidays ONLY, not midweek. If your trip is Monday to Thursday and you have booked in Ludlow, you are driving up the access road every morning — to a free lot, which is the saving grace.

Which Okemo lodging is truly ski-in ski-out?
One hotel-shaped address: the Jackson Gore Inn, with Adams House and Bixby House alongside it, where you boot up in the lobby, cross a heated walkway and skate to the Coleman Brook Express. Mountain Lodge at Okemo at the Clock Tower base is genuinely ski-on too, but its own marketing says ground-floor condos — upper units walk down first. Beyond hotel stock, Okemo's slopeside inventory is condominium: Kettle Brook, Adams and Bixby, and the Solitude Village community. Those are booked through rental managers and never appear in hotel data, so they have no card or rate here.
How many bases does Okemo have?

Can a beginner ski back to their hotel at Okemo?
To Clock Tower, easily — and that is the base to book for one. The whole Clock Tower pod is green and every run finishes at the base lodge: Open Slope, Ledgewood, Lift Line, Homeward Bound, Hot Dog Hill, Snow Trak, Ski School Slope and Kettle Brook, all served by the two South Ridge quads and the F-10 carpet, with the ski school on the same snow. From higher up, Easy Rider is the named green that connects to Mountain Road, the long easy cruiser everybody uses to get down and across. Are the Jackson Gore beginner runs really green?

For 20–23 January 2027, two adults: the Jackson Gore Inn came in at $370, matched on Hotels.com and $389 on Booking.com and Priceline, and Mountain Lodge at Okemo at $296, though three OTAs held the same nights at $349. Off the snow, The Governor's Inn in Ludlow was $200, Castle Hill in Proctorsville $229, Revival Resort $383 and The Weston, nine miles south, $483. Rates move constantly and are a snapshot, not a quote.
Should you stay at Okemo or in Ludlow?
At the mountain if the skiing is the point, and at the base that matches the party: Jackson Gore for a hotel with a front desk, Clock Tower for anyone learning. Ludlow gives you Main Street restaurants and shops at the foot of the access road, and the shortest gap in this comparison — The Governor's Inn at 1.4 miles — but there is no ski corridor down to town and the free buses only run weekends and holidays. Ludlow is also where the rate advantage is: $200 there against $296 for the cheapest slopeside bed.
