Ski-In Ski-Out Hotels in Whistler

Whistler has hundreds of beds within a few minutes of a lift and only a handful on the snow. We checked every ski-in ski-out hotel in Whistler in both directions — including the one whose legal name contains the phrase, and the base where no green run comes home at all.

The short version

  • Seven properties pass the strict test across three bases: Pan Pacific Mountainside and Sundial on Skiers Plaza, Fairmont, Le Chamois and Glacier Lodge at the Blackcomb base, First Tracks at Creekside, and Blackcomb Springs with a caveat.
  • Downloading the gondola is not cheating here. A Whistler instructor guide published by the Fairmont says in capitals that you are allowed to ride down any gondola on the mountain, and advises doing it — the end of the day is when injuries happen. Treat the ski-back as a bonus, not the thing the booking hinges on.
  • Creekside has no green run home at all. Every route back is a blue, which reclassifies First Tracks and Nita Lake for families however good their lift access is.
  • Blackcomb Springs Suites carries "True Ski-in, Ski-out Resort" in its legal name. The access is real but runs on one trail, Lower Merlin's, and its own marketing adds the condition: "when the snow levels reach right down to the base".
  • In our 20–23 January price check, Glacier Lodge at $358 was the cheapest true slopeside bed and Pinnacle at $242 the cheapest on the page.

We have not stayed at these properties. Every claim above was checked in August 2026 against the property's own website and Whistler Blackcomb's lodging pages, and where those contradicted the listing, the listing lost. Blackcomb Lodge, Alpenglow and the Delta are absent on purpose: despite the names, they are ordinary village hotels with no access story.

You may ride down any gondola on the mountain. An instructor guide published by the Fairmont puts it in capitals and adds that the end of the day is when injuries happen, because the exit runs turn icy and busy.

The 4.4 km crossing between the two mountains needs no separate purchase with a valid lift ticket or pass — which is why the choice of base matters less here than at most resorts.

Village Lots 1-3 run CA$4 an hour to CA$21 a day; Lots 4-5 are the cheap option at CA$13. Overnight parking is banned in all of them from 1 November to 31 March.

Condos on the benchlands: Whistler's other slopeside inventory

Above the Upper Village, the Blackcomb benchlands hold a cluster of townhomes and condo lodges strung along one run — Lower Merlin's — which is what gives them their access. They are booked through rental managers rather than a front desk.

The pattern is consistent and worth understanding before booking: the ski-out is genuine, the ski-back depends on being on the right trail at the right elevation, and everything else needs the free bus.

Whistler Village, the Upper Village or Creekside: three bases, three different weeks

The single most useful thing to understand before booking Whistler is that its two village gondolas serve completely different lodging, and their names are easy to confuse.

Whistler Village and Skiers Plaza is where the Whistler Village Gondola and the Excalibur Gondola both load. The Pan Pacific Mountainside and the Sundial sit on the plaza itself; everything else in the village is a two-to-ten-minute walk, softened by valets and base lockers. Lower Olympic finishes here, and it is the run every instructor points a new skier down.

The Upper Village is the Blackcomb base: quieter, more resort-like, and home to the Fairmont, Le Chamois and Glacier Lodge on one plaza. Above it, the benchlands hold the condo lodges and Blackcomb Springs, whose access depends on the snowline rather than the geography.

Creekside is the local end — cheapest to drive to, quietest, and with the resort's best hotel-to-gondola distance at First Tracks. It also has no green run home, which is a real constraint for a family and a non-issue for confident skiers.

Where we disagree with the official list

Whistler's booking sites are generous with the phrase, and three names in particular mislead.

Blackcomb Springs Suites has "True Ski-in, Ski-out Resort" in its legal name. We do list it as true, because the access is genuine — but it is conditional in a way the name cannot express. One trail, Lower Merlin's, carries you both ways; the Excalibur Gondola is a six-minute drive, not its lift; and the property's own marketing supplies the condition, "when the snow levels reach right down to the base". Miss Merlin's on the way home and the walk up from the base is over loose rock that reviewers call unsafe.

Blackcomb Lodge is not at the Blackcomb base. It is a Main Street hotel in Whistler Village, about five minutes from the gondolas. The name is the only mountain thing about it, and it is not on this page.

Alpenglow Lodge and the Delta Whistler Village Suites are ordinary Village North properties, eight to ten minutes out. Good hotels, no access story — also absent here.

And the nuance on the ones we do list: Whistler's ski-backs are all low-elevation. The village sits near 675 m and Creekside lower, so the bottom third of every route home is the first to go thin, slushy or icy. Early December and April are when ski-in/ski-out quietly becomes a hundred metres in boots — worst on the benchlands, least on the plaza.

Getting around, and where the day actually goes wrong

Vancouver is about two hours down the Sea to Sky Highway, so most people arrive by shuttle or rental car and then never use it again. The village is pedestrian, the buses are cheap and the two mountains are joined at the top.

That last point is what makes Whistler forgiving. Peak 2 Peak is included with any winter lift ticket, so a Blackcomb-base hotel does not lock you out of Whistler Mountain or the other way round. The base you pick changes your evening more than your skiing.

Whistler Ski-In Ski-Out Questions

Which Whistler hotels are truly ski-in ski-out?
Seven pass a strict both-directions test: Pan Pacific Mountainside and Sundial on Skiers Plaza; Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Le Chamois and Glacier Lodge at the Blackcomb base; First Tracks Lodge at Creekside; and Blackcomb Springs Suites on the benchlands, conditionally.
Is Blackcomb Springs Suites really ski-in ski-out?
Genuinely, but on one trail and subject to snow. You click in at its slopeside storage and drop onto Lower Merlin's, which also has to be the run you take home — no other route reaches the property. The hotel's own marketing adds the condition, "when the snow levels reach right down to the base". The Excalibur Gondola is a six-minute drive away, not its lift. Full verdict here.
Can a beginner ski back to the village in Whistler?
To Whistler Village, yes: Expressway, a green cat track from the gondola mid-station, widens into Lower Olympic and finishes in Skiers Plaza. To the Upper Village, Green Line — the long traverse off 7th Heaven — joins Easy Out to the Blackcomb base. To Creekside, no: every run back there is a blue. And downloading any gondola is permitted and openly recommended.
Is Whistler Village or the Upper Village better?
Whistler Village puts you on Skiers Plaza with two gondolas and the restaurants at the door — louder, more convenient, more choice. The Upper Village at the Blackcomb base is quieter and more resort-like, about ten minutes' walk from the nightlife. Since Peak 2 Peak is included in winter, both give you the whole mountain; pick on evenings, not on skiing.
How much do ski-in ski-out hotels in Whistler cost?
In our 20–23 January price check, genuine slopeside ran from $358 at Glacier Lodge and $363 at Blackcomb Springs through $437 at the Sundial and $501 at the Pan Pacific Mountainside to $652 at Le Chamois. Walk-category village beds start at $242 for the Pinnacle.
Is the Peak 2 Peak Gondola included with a lift ticket?
Yes, in winter. Any valid lift ticket or season pass covers the 4.4 km crossing between the Whistler Roundhouse and Blackcomb Rendezvous. A separate Sightsee Ticket exists for non-skiers and for summer. It is the reason your choice of base matters less at Whistler than almost anywhere.
Do you need a car in Whistler?
No, and it is a liability once you arrive: no village day lot is free, Lots 1-3 run to CA$21 a day, and overnight parking is banned in all of them through the winter. An airport transfer from Vancouver plus the free BC Transit buses covers everything, including the benchlands.
How much are lift tickets, and does the Epic Pass cover Whistler?
Whistler Blackcomb is a Vail Resorts mountain, so the full Epic Pass covers it without restriction — it launched at US$1,089 for 2026/27, with US$869 for under-30s. Epic Local carries holiday restrictions and limited days here, so it is the wrong product for a Whistler trip. Day tickets ran roughly CA$150-199, more on holiday dates, with about 30% off when booked four or more weeks ahead.
